Les Spartan Races ! Ce n’est définitivement plus une première pour moi. La Spartan Race Atlantique Super 2017 était ma 6è course à obstacle. Je vous en parlais déjà l’année dernière, mais aussi cet hiver avec le format Winter Spartan Race.

Mais cette fois, ce fut différent. Je suis partie avec mes amis. Une équipe mixte. 4 garçons et 4 nanas : Ariane, Jigmé, Juliette, Kokoy, Marc, Patrick, William et moi. Tous équipés par Reebok (sélection en bas de l’article).

Une Spartan Race c’est quoi ?
C’est une course d’obstacles, c’est-à-dire une course où vous devez parcourir plusieurs kilomètres en alternant avec des obstacles à franchir, inspiré de parcours militaires ou « parcours du combattant ». Ajoutez-y avec un peu plus de folklore : boue, neige, bassin, obstacles hors du commun. Les Spartans sont dans le top des OCR.

Il existe 3 formats :
– Sprint : Environ 6km + Un vingtaine d’obstacles. Idéal pour les coureurs rapides visant un chrono.
– Super : Environ 13km et plus de 25 obstacles. Beaucoup plus endurante, elle sollicitera votre mental et votre physique.
– Beast : Plus de 20km et plus de 30 obstacles. C’est tout simplement l’épreuve ultime. Longue et difficile, elle porte bien son nom.

Pourquoi faire une Spartan Race ?
Chaque Spartan Race est un vrai dépassement de soi. Un peu comme le Crossfit elle sollicite toutes vos facultés sportives : endurance, souplesse, force, rapidité… Quoi qu’il arrive, votre course vous fera sortir de votre zone de confort.

Pourquoi la faire en équipe ?

C’est exactement ça. Quoi qu’il arrive j’ai toujours trouvé de l’aide en Spartan Race même seule pour passer les obstacles compliqués, comme la palissade de 2,40m… Même celle de 1,80m. Mais en équipe tout est différent. On partage quelque chose d’unique. On se complète. On peut se répartir les burpees. On se soutient. On se booste et se motive.

Notre aventure :
On est parti à 7h du matin de Bordeaux. Notre départ était prévu pour 10h30, on avait environ 1h30 de voiture pour rejoindre Saint-Jean-d’Angely et la Spartan Race Atlantique. On était 3 sur 8 à avoir déjà couru une Spartan.
Le temps de retirer nos dossards, oui c’est le bandeau. De se motiver un peu et on était déjà dans le SAS. En pluie et temps gris, la météo « boue » était bien au rendez-vous.
3…2…1… AROOOOO ! C’est parti ! Dès le début on est bien dans la boue et les obstacles commencent. On se rend vite compte que les femmes réussissent ou les hommes échouent et vise-versa. C’est parfait ! On est 4 et 4. On se réparti les burpees même si notre objectif est de réussir un maximum d’obstacles.
On s’entre aide. Je réussie même un exploit en dépassant ma peur sur deux obstacles, grâce à l’aide de mon équipe.
A partir de 10km, les premières crampes retentisse dans la team. On masse et on repart. Un bain de boue avant un bain d’eau. On le sent on est presque arrivé.
3h20 de course… On se prend tous la main pour franchir la ligne d’arrivée…

Mes astuces pour faire sa première Spartan :

  • Faites la en équipe ! 
  • Entrainez-vous : Renforcement musculaire, burpees, course, course en côte… On se prépare pour être au top le jour J. Envie d’un programme complet ? Découvrez le Mon Cahier obstacle training de Sophie Vilmont.
  • On prend des forces ! C’est une compétition physique alors on mange bien avant, pendant et après.
  • Equipez-vous ! On évite le coton qui va se gorger de boue. Chaussures à crampons obligatoires. Manches longues et pantalons sont recommandés pour éviter les blessures. Voici une petite sélection.
